Neurodegenerative diseases

The progressive loss of structure and function of neurons is known as neurodegenerative disease. Genetic mutations, such as the common repeat of the CAG nucleotide triplet, aggregation of misfolded proteins, and membrane intracellular systems, such as the protein degradation pathway, all contribute to this. This is an unreversible loss that will result in death. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and Huntington's disease are examples of neurodegenerative disorders.
